Getting Around on TRAX
TRAX is the Utah Transit Authority’s light rail system. Built to accommodate the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, TRAX will take you quickly and efficiently from the Fort Douglas and University area to downtown Salt Lake, with weekend service approximately every 15 minutes from 6:30 AM until 12:30 AM. There are two TRAX stations, Fort Douglas and South Campus, that are each less than a block from the University Guest House, the conference hotel. Trains will take you to downtown shopping locations and to Temple Square, and you can connect to other bus and rail lines.
You need to purchase your fare ticket from an automated kiosk at the TRAX station prior to boarding.

UTA Bus and TRAX schedules can be accessed at any time from your Internet-enabled cell phone, PDA, i-Phone, BlackBerry, or other device, by going to www.uta2go.com. Please note that when a zero (0) appears in the schedule for a bus route, it means that the stop in question is not being serviced at that time of day, scroll up or down the schedule for times when that stop is being serviced.
A line from Salt Lake City International Airport to the University of Utah was in the original plans for the system to be completed before the 2002 Winter Olympics, but funding shortages only allowed for the eastern portion to be constructed. The airport line has come to fruition, however, and ground was broken on October 22, 2008. It will contain 6 additional stations, including a transfer station to the FrontRunner commuter rail line. Completion is expected in 2011 or 2012.
